To solve the spatial challenge, we designed a striking, custom curved wood-slat wall. Moving into Houston’s historic Summer Street Studios—a beautifully renovated paint-manufacturing warehouse—the challenge was to blend advanced tech infrastructure with the building's raw, historic architectural features, all without defaulting to a sterile, corporate environment. Authentic Restaurant Interior Design: Osha Thai, Houston

The Challenge: Creating an Immersive, Street-Style Dining Experience The owners of Osha Thai had a clear and vibrant vision: they wanted to transport their guests straight to the bustling streets of Thailand without ever leaving Houston. The challenge was to create a highly authentic, immersive atmosphere that captured this energetic street culture while ensuring every material met the strict durability and cleanability standards required for a high-traffic commercial restaurant.

The Solution: A Bold Blend of Coastal Elements and Cultural Authenticity We embraced the kinetic energy of Thai street food culture by designing a space that feels alive and interactive. By pairing a mixture of natural, coastal-inspired materials with ultra-durable commercial finishes, we built a dining room that is as practical as it is visually striking. The interior palette relies on bold, saturated colors that were explicitly chosen to mirror the vibrant, bold flavors and visual presentation of Osha Thai’s authentic dishes.

The Details: Transporting Guests to Thailand

The Tuk Tuks: To create an unforgettable, highly shareable focal point, we sourced and brought in two authentic Tuk Tuks, integrating them seamlessly into the dining space as playful, cultural accents.

Street-Style Light Boxes: We designed custom light box installations engineered to mimic the glowing, eclectic street advertisements found in bustling Thai night markets.

The Custom Mural: A stunning, large-scale custom mural grounds the space, adding a layer of bespoke artistry that celebrates Thai culture and ties the bold color palette together.

Commercial Durability: We carefully balanced the natural, earthy aesthetic of the coastal accents with heavy-duty, restaurant-grade fabrics and surfaces to ensure longevity in a high-volume hospitality environment.

AV Interiors teamed up with Christine Ho Interiors for this masculine renovation. When approached by a home owner with the unfortunate story of fire damage. The initial conversations were to reconstruct the home back to it's original plan with finish upgrades but taking full advantage of making the best of the tragic events the design took a towards new light. By re-configuring the second floor by opening two spaces into one spacious open living area the natural light is able to flood into the central kitchen and formal dining space. Mindful details to the space plan allows for multiple functions formal living, formal dining, spacious kitchen with breakfast island, walk in pantry and even a game room with a pool table including a fireplace creating the ultimate entertainment space. One of the only items that survived the fire was an large scale Scrabble board which we used as inspiration when selecting the new finishes and fixtures.

The Challenge: Transforming a "White Box" into an Engineer's Headquarters The original layout of this commercial space was a standard, uninspiring corporate box enclosed by a boring lay-in tile ceiling. As a firm of engineers, Othon needed a headquarters that actually reflected their profession—a space that celebrated structure, mechanics, and modern workflow rather than hiding it behind generic building materials.

[H2] The Solution: Exposing the Infrastructure and Optimizing Flow We stripped back the corporate shell, opening up the ceiling in strategic areas to proudly expose the building's raw infrastructure. To guide visitors and staff naturally through the open-concept floor plan, we designed a continuous architectural "eyebrow" fur-down that sweeps from the entry throughout the entire suite, creating a cohesive, dynamic visual flow.

The Details: Purposeful Zoning and Playful Secrets

Acoustically Sound Open Workspaces: To keep the floor plan open while controlling noise, we suspended architectural drop-down baffles above the workstations. We also utilized flooring to create subtle zones, using raw concrete for high-traffic pathways and "carpet islands" to ground the open desk areas.

The Pixelated Breakroom: We brought a playful, mathematical touch to the employee breakroom by designing a custom-blend tile backsplash that forms a unique, pixelated graphic.

The "Bat Cave": Every great modern office needs a secret. We designed a hidden door that blends seamlessly into the surrounding wall panels, leading to a highly private, specialized meeting room affectionately dubbed the "Bat Cave."

The Secret Bookcase Door: At the end of the kitchen run, what appears to be a beautiful built-in bookcase is actually a custom hidden door. It swings open to reveal a completely reconfigured laundry room.

Unexpected Pops of Pattern: While the main living spaces rely on a simple, natural palette, opening the hidden door to the laundry room reveals an unexpected, playful pop of bold pattern on the tile floor.

Maximized Primary Bath: We rethought the layout of the cramped en-suite, maximizing the usable space and opening it up to feel significantly larger and more accommodating.

The client wanted a home that reflected their vibrant personality and felt incredibly rich and curated, utilizing many of their existing furniture pieces.

The Solution: Rich Textures, Color Drenching, and Bespoke Textiles We completely eliminated the "grey box" feel without knocking down a single wall. By layering luxury custom wallcoverings, rich textiles, and strategic color applications, we elevated the entire home. We seamlessly integrated the client’s existing anchor pieces—like their dining table, art, and chandelier—while introducing bespoke drapery and bold accents to create a space that feels deeply personal, playful, and casually elegant.

The Suede Dining Room: Working with the client's existing table and chandelier, we added incredible warmth by completely upholstering the dining room walls in luxurious suede. We had custom drapery fabricated from the exact same suede material and brought in new, richly patterned dining chairs to align with the client’s personality.

The Lounge & Bar: We converted an unused open office area into a dedicated entertaining bar, anchoring the space with a bold luxury wallcovering and striking sculptural lounge chairs.

The Color-Drenched Office: A secondary office space was completely "color drenched" (painting the walls, trim, and ceiling in a single saturated hue), instantly adding drama and depth. We finished the room with a new statement chandelier and modern furniture.

The Primary Bedroom: To create a softer, more organic retreat, we wrapped the primary bedroom in a beautiful, luxury custom grasscloth wallcovering.

Rather than fighting the home's original architecture, we honored the existing ornamentation and classic trim, carefully simplifying it so the sleek, new kitchen seamlessly integrated with the surrounding rooms. We utilized a sophisticated two-tone paint palette, grounding the room with darker tone columns that provide beautiful visual balance against the expansive cabinetry.

We sustainably spruced up the existing restaurant furniture with fresh, vibrant accent upholstery, and then layered in curated new pieces to elevate the overall dining experience.

The Challenge: Modernizing a 1997 Floor Plan Originally built in 1997, this Piney Point home possessed incredible potential but suffered from an outdated, compartmentalized floor plan that no longer served the clients' lifestyle. While the entire home required fresh finishes and updated bathrooms, the primary focus of this massive overhaul was completely reimagining the kitchen and the primary en-suite to maximize space, flow, and function.

The Solution: Timeless Neutrals and Smart Reconfiguration We completely reconfigured the architectural space plan to allow for a more intuitive, open flow throughout the home. To ensure the investment would age gracefully, the clients opted for a sophisticated, neutral palette that creates a calming, timeless aesthetic. By stripping away the heavy, dated 90s elements and focusing on clean lines and elevated materials, we brought this luxury property firmly into the modern era.

The Details: Dramatic Transformations and New Additions

The Open-Concept Kitchen: We blew open the original, boxed-in kitchen. We completely cleaned up the cabinetry design to provide significantly better, customized storage, and anchored the new open space with a breathtaking, bold natural stone countertop on the island.

Primary Bath Overhaul: The primary bathroom was gutted and entirely reconfigured into a spacious, spa-like retreat that aligns with the home's new luxury standard.

Second-Floor Upgrades: To elevate the home's everyday functionality and entertaining capabilities, we didn't just renovate existing spaces—we added new ones. We carved out a brand-new, dedicated laundry room on the second floor and designed a custom entertainment bar in the upstairs game room.

One of the original developments in the Woodlands is the Panther Creek area. Built in 1985 this original kitchen had a formal dining, small kitchen & even smaller breakfast area, check out the before photos below. By opening up the kitchen, raising the ceilings this new design is not only aesthetically more modern but highly functional. All details were thought through and designed from a whole baking station where the breakfast room once was to easily accessible spice drawers cook top island now overlooking the living room. Every last inch was considered and used for either kitchen storage or displayed shelves for cook books.

This West University Place renovation project was set on the real estate market to sell when an unfortunate water accident occurred.
